Ryukyu Budan Shoryu Matsuri Daiko, which literally means “Rising Dragon, Ryukyu Festival Taiko Dance Group”, was formed February 7th, 2010. Original members were from Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko Tokyo branch together with new members looking for the better performance.

Because we are not tied to any particular regional style, our eisa performance differs from that of the seinenkai (young person's associations) in Okinawa. We strive to attract people through our performances as a contemporary eisa group, participating in a number of events every year.

In addition to traditional folk music of Okinawa, we dance on the rhythm of Okinawan Rock and Pop. We have introduced forms (kata) from Okinawan Karate into our choreography. Additionally, our female members dance while playing the Odaiko (biggest of the Taiko drums). These are some of our unique characteristics , making our style a blend of tradition and innovation, with dynamic performances that take eisa to the next level.

During the Era of the Ryukyu Kingdom, our ancestors of Okinawa understood the importance of contact with people from other cultures, and they traveled to various countries around the world, becoming living bridges with them. Today, we can find a bell with the word of "Bankoku-Shinryo" (萬國津梁) at the main temple of the Shuri Castle in Okinawa. This roughly translates as "The Bridge between ten thousand countries" which is the proof of welcoming spirit of Okinawa towards people from all over the world

Ryukyu Budan Shoryu Matsuri Daiko is based in Tokyo, the Japan's capital city, and we carry the traditional spirit of the Bankoku-Shinryo. We believe that the passion we put into our performances has the power to make people from all over the world want to discover more of the beauty of Okinawa, building a bridge between us.
